$120 / hour

Video Editing Rate

This is how much it costs to edit video podcast content for a client. The video will be edited in either Adobe Premiere or Descript depending on the complexity and how many camera shots are used. Files must be sent via WeTransfer or DropBox to The Podcast Editor and a deadline must be scheduled for the episode to drop with at least two to three weeks out. This fee also includes email communication with client. This is the base rate, longer video productions including YouTube channel videos are more.

Audio Editing

This is how much it costs to edit interview audio for a client. The audio will be edited using either Adobe Audition or Hindenburg. Files must be sent via WeTransfer or DropBox to The Podcast Editor and a deadline must be scheduled for the episode to drop with at least one week out. This fee also includes email communication with client.

This is the base rate set for Q&A style podcasts with less than four guests. Story Editing narrative audio starts at $120 per hour.

$200 / hour

General Consulting Rate

This is the rate to help someone ideate a new podcast, plan a new concept, host a recording call on Zoom, Riverside.fm, Cleanfeed or similar to refine a current audio podcast, assist with an audio support call, act as Executive Producer or Showrunner. TPE will also offer feedback on existing podcasts and act as a sounding board for pitching new podcast ideas at this rate.

Need Transcripts?

TPE can add-on this service for $25 per episode while ensuring that your podcast transcript looks sharp with proper spelling, punctuation, and grammar, and fact checking. TPE has experience transcribing audio for REV.com whose clients have some of the most challenging audio to transcribe due to technical jargon like medical, scientific, legal, etc. Plus, the benefit of transcription means you can repurpose your audio for other formats including website, print, and social media. This also helps create accessibility for your podcast if your organization needs to be Section 508 Compliant.

 

$800 fixed rate per Season

You will qualify for the $800 per episode fixed rate if you commit to signing a contract with The Podcast Editor produce a season of 10 episodes of no more than 60 mins length run-time. This means a 10 episode season would cost $8,000 and 12 episodes would be $9,600. The fixed rate also includes time usually billed by the hour for client communication by email, uploading files for publishing, writing copy for the episode write-up, audio leveling through Auphonic, and other administrative work. If the audio needs restoration work, client will be notified and informed of cost to clean-up any noise through an outside audio engineer. TPE aims to turn around and produce the cleanest audio as possible based on your source material so that you have an outstanding sounding final product. Our reputation and track record of. publishing is as important as yours.

 

$235 Tape Syncs +
Tape Sync Kit (first hour)

Tape Sync rates are aligned with Tape Syncers Union. $235 minimum for the first hour ($200 labor plus $35 for Basic Tape Sync Kit which includes 1 microphone, recorder, and stand) and $60 for each additional hour. Additional equipment or recording requests are $75 – $100 more than basic tape sync costs based on details of the project. Must book 72 hours in advance. Jobs canceled within 24 hours of tape sync are billed at 100%, the full rate. Jobs canceled within 48 hours of tape sync are billed at 50% of rate. You will be billed for each mile traveled to and from sync in accordance with standard mileage rates along with tolls, parking, or public transportation costs.

$4,000 project retainer

If you’d like to keep The Podcast Editor on retainer for a new podcast you are setting up where you think you will need to reserve full time hours for a project, the minimum time you can reserve is for 40 hours or $4,000 fee. Please note that you don’t need to use all hours in a specific time period; you can also pay the retainer and use this reserve to keep The Podcast Editor on call for any additional production work for the next year. Each hour of work will be deducted from the bank of the 40 hour deposit, instead of TPE billing for each hour. This is perfect if you don’t want to be sent an invoice for each month of work and would like to call George specifically with questions during any time of the project outside the consulting charge rate. Every time TPE is consulted, hours will be subtracted from the 40 hour bank until zero. Good for starting a new show.

 

$250 rush fee
& weekend production

If a file comes in after 12 pm East Coast time on a Friday, then the client will be assessed a $250 weekend production fee if an episode is scheduled to be published the following week. This fee will also be assessed if a client needs a file turnaround in less than 48 hours any time during normal weekly business hours.
